NOVELTY - Preparing nano metal catalyst, comprises (i) preparing metal nanoparticles, dissolving it in a non-polar solvent to obtain A solution, (ii) dispersing carrier in a mixed solvent consisting of polar solvent and non-polar solvent to obtain B solution, and (iii) adding solution A into solution B under stirring and/or ultrasonic conditions to obtain final product. USE - The catalyst is useful for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of liquid organic hydrogen storage materials (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst can not only reduces the temperature and pressure of hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of liquid organic hydrogen storage materials, ensures complete hydrogenation of heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons at normal temperature and low pressure, and also solve the problems of incomplete hydrogen removal and poor selectivity in the dehydrogenation process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: Nano metal catalyst obtained by above method; and Use of nano metal catalyst in catalyzing the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions of liquid organic hydrogen storage materials comprising carrying out hydrogenation reaction of the liquid organic hydrogen storage material at 20-50 ℃, preferably room temperature; the reaction pressure is low pressure, preferably 1.02-5 bar, liquid organic hydrogen storage material is nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, hydrogenation substrate for the hydrogenation of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons catalyzed by the nano-metal catalyst is quinoline, 1H-indole compound of formula (I), 4-methylpyridine compound of formula (III), 9H-carbazole compound of formula (II), dehydrogenation substrate that nano-metal catalyst catalyzes the dehydrogenation of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is decahydroquinoline, dodecahydro-1H-carbazole compound of formula (V), octahydro-1H-indole compound of formula (IV) or piperidin-4-amine compound of formula (VI). R = hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or n-propyl; and R1and R2 = hydrogen, methyl or ethyl.
