NOVELTY - Preparing graphene-oxide, involves contacting graphene and one oxidant in a solution, comprises acid solvent by forming graphene-oxide, where the graphene is graphene sheets, fullerenes, graphene nanotubes, graphene nanoscrolls, and graphene nanoribbons. USE - Method for preparing graphene-oxide. ADVANTAGE - The method does not require sodium nitrate and, consequently, does not generate the toxic gasses nitrogen dioxide/dinitrogen tetraoxide and dramatically reduces oxidation time required to prepare graphite oxide.
