NOVELTY - Manufacturing reduced graphene oxide from graphite electrode scrap comprises (A) providing the graphite electrode scrap, (B) grinding electrode graphite scrap to obtain grinded graphite electrode, (C) oxidizing grinded graphite electrode to obtain graphene oxide comprising preparing mixture comprising the grinded graphite electrode, an acid and a nitrate salt, where the mixture being kept at a temperature below 5 degrees C, adding oxidizing agent into the mixture obtained to obtain graphite oxide, after the targeted level of oxidation is reached, the addition of an element to stop the oxidation reaction, the separation of graphite oxide from the mixture obtained, where the exfoliation of graphite oxide into graphene oxide and (D) reducing graphene oxide into reduced graphene oxide. USE - The method is useful for making reduced graphene oxide. ADVANTAGE - The method provides reduced graphene oxide: with reduced pollution compared to the conventional method thus environmentally friendly; and having good quality in the shortest time possible.
