NOVELTY - Preparation of modified rubber using graphene oxide/bentonite involves mixing sodium bentonite and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide to form suspension, filtering, drying, crushing to obtain bentonite powder, adding graphene oxide solution and vinyltriethoxysilane, dispersing to obtain graphene oxide/aqueous bentonite, adding natural rubber latex emulsion containing natural rubber and ethyl acetate and polyethylene glycol surface modifier, settling latex emulsion, drying to obtain plastic pieces and cutting. USE - Preparation of modified rubber using graphene oxide/bentonite (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of modified rubber with improved interfacial adhesion with bentonite, dispersibility, compatibility, strength, wear resistance and gas barrier properties. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of modified rubber using graphene oxide/bentonite involves mixing 100-150 g sodium bentonite and 200-300 ml distilled water in a beaker, stirring to form a suspension, adding 3-5 g cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, stirring at 65-70 degrees C for 1-2 hours, cooling to room temperature, layering, removing upper liquid layer, washing precipitate with deionized water, filtering 2-3 times, drying precipitate in an oven at 75-85 degrees C, crushing, sieving to obtain bentonite powder having particle size of 400-500 mesh, mixing 5-6 g graphene oxide and 250 ml deionized water, ultrasonically-dispersing at power of 500-800 kW for 40-50 minutes to obtain graphene oxide solution, adding 20-30 g above-prepared bentonite powder and 1-3 g vinyltriethoxysilane, ultrasonically-dispersing at power of 600-900 kW for 2-3 hours to obtain graphene oxide/aqueous bentonite, adding 30-50 g natural rubber and 300-350 ml ethyl acetate in 1000 ml three-necked flask equipped with a stirrer, thermometer and condenser, placing flask in water bath and then stirring at 60-70 degrees C and 600-700 rpm to obtain natural rubber adhesive, adding polyoxyethylene phenyl ether emulsifier and 200-250 ml deionized water, stirring at 70-80 degrees C for 20-30 minutes, adjusting pH to 10-12 using sodium bicarbonate, high-shear emulsifying at 3000-5000 rpm for 30-40 minutes, distilling at 60-80 degrees C for 1-2 hours under reduced pressure to obtain natural rubber latex emulsion, adding 100-150 ml graphene oxide/bentonite solution to a reaction vessel, adding 3-5 ml polyethylene glycol surface modifier and then reacting at 50-60 degrees C for 50-60 minutes, stirring at 500-600 rpm, adding 200-250 ml natural rubber latex emulsion, uniformly stirring, dripping 5% 10-12 ml calcium chloride solution to settle latex emulsion, drying to obtain plastic pieces, cutting into small pieces, washing with distilled water 3-5 times and drying in oven at 55-60 degrees C.
