NOVELTY - Preparing graphene-supported micro-gold core-shell structure comprises preparing surface-modified polystyrene micro-sphere emulsion, preparing microspheres gold seed gel solution, preparing gel solution of polystyrene microspheres, mixing the mixture solution of tetrachloroacetic acid and potassium carbonate, deionized water and gel solution of the microsphere seed, adding hydrogen peroxide solution, drying the gel solution of the polystyrene microspheres, soaking the sample in tetrahydrofuran solution, removing the polystyrene microspheres and drying. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene-supported micro-gold core-shell structure (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: can control the thickness of the gold shell supported by graphene multilayer from tens to hundreds of nanometers. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing graphene-supported micro-gold core-shell structure comprises (a) preparing polystyrene microsphere emulsion, adding modified solution and stirring, to obtain surface-modified polystyrene micro-sphere emulsion, (b) preparing microspheres gold seed gel solution by (i) adding trisodium citrate to the first mixed solution of deionized water and tetrachloroacetic acid and stirring to react sufficiently, to obtain a second mixed solution, adding sodium borohydride in the second mixed solution and stirring to react sufficiently, to obtain gold seed gel solution, (ii) mixing the gold seed gel solution with the surface-modified polystyrene microsphere emulsion, to obtain a gel solution of microsphere gold seed, where the microspheres are gold polystyrene microspheres with gold seeds grown on the surface, (c) preparing a gel solution of polystyrene microspheres having a gold shell layer on its surface, mixing the mixture solution of tetrachloroacetic acid and potassium carbonate, deionized water and gel solution of the microsphere seed and stirring, adding the hydrogen peroxide solution in a dropwise manner during stirring until the color became gray, to obtain gel solution of polystyrene microsphere with gold shell layer, (d) drying the gel solution of the polystyrene microspheres having the gold shell layer on the surface, to obtain a powdery sample, soaking the sample in a tetrahydrofuran solution to grow a graphene multilayer in the inner wall of the gold shell and removing the polystyrene microspheres and drying. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for micronized gold core-shell structure prepared by above method.
