NOVELTY - Producing precious metal supported catalyst having controlled shape comprises preparing a precious metal metal salt and a porous support, preparing a mixed powder by mixing the precious metal metal salt and the porous support, and heat-treating the mixed powder in the presence of a gas containing carbon monoxide (CO) gas. USE - The precious metal supported catalyst is useful in anisotropic noble metal supported catalyst (claimed) for sensors, electrode materials, and adsorbents for specific gas-phase and liquid-phase reactions. ADVANTAGE - The method enables catalyst production having excellent performance by an easy and simple synthesis method, is environmentally-friendly and economical, does not use harmful solvents or water, is convenient in procedure, and is suitable for scale-up reproducibility. The anisotropic uniform noble metal nanoparticles can be synthesized by controlling the crystal size to have a crystal size of less than 20 nm.
