NOVELTY - Nitrogen-doped graphene material comprises a nitrogen element containing sp hybridization state. USE - The material is useful in the field of catalysts, preferably an electrochemical catalyst (claimed). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparing the nitrogen-doped graphene material comprising calcining a nitrogen source and a carbon source under the same inert atmosphere, where the nitrogen source includes a compound containing a carbon-nitrogen double bond and/or a carbon-nitrogen triple bond; and (2) electrochemical reaction catalyst comprising the nitrogen-doped graphene material and preferably, the electrochemical reaction catalyst is nitrogen doped graphite alkyne material.
