NOVELTY - Surface-modification of hydrogen storage alloy, involves vacuum-induction smelting mixed-rare-earth-magnesium-nickel-manganese-aluminum-cobalt matrix alloy, forming an alloy ingot, crushing, ball-milling at 250-300 rpm for 60-90 minutes, sieving to 200-300 mesh to obtain alloy particle powder, mixing 95-99 wt.% alloy particle powder and 1-5 wt.% graphene, ball-milling at 200-250 rpm for 30-60 minutes. The mixed rare earth contains 82.3 wt.% lanthanum and 17.7 wt.% neodymium. USE - Surface-modification of AB'3-type hydrogen storage alloy used for forming electrodes. ADVANTAGE - The method is simple and easy to be carried out on a large scale. The surface-modified AB'3-type hydrogen storage alloy forms electrodes having excellent electrochemical property. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Surface-modification of AB'3-type hydrogen storage alloy, involves vacuum-induction smelting AB'3-type mixed-rare-earth-magnesium-nickel-manganese-aluminum-cobalt matrix alloy of formula: Mm0.78Mg0.22Ni2.48Mn0.09Al0.23Co0.47 (where Mm is mixed rare earth containing 82.3 wt.% lanthanum and 17.7 wt.% neodymium), forming an alloy ingot, crushing, ball-milling at 250-300 rpm for 60-90 minutes, sieving to 200-300 mesh to obtain Mm0.78Mg0.22Ni2.48Mn0.09Al0.23Co0.47 alloy particle powder, mixing 95-99 wt.% alloy particle powder and 1-5 wt.% graphene, ball-milling at 200-250 rpm for 30-60 minutes.
