NOVELTY - Composite material comprises carbon material (21) and the metal oxide layer (22) which coat or covers the surface of the carbon material. The thickness of the coverage of the metal oxide layer is 95 wt.% or more, and is 10 nanometer (nm) or less. USE - Composite material used in the negative electrode material for lithium ion secondary batteries (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material provides a negative electrode layer by the low pressurization, and high capacity or capacitance and a high output characteristic can be acquired.
