NOVELTY - Method for preparing 1,5-hexadiene comprises catalyzing the substrate under the action of catalyst and reducing agent, where the substrate comprises polyol compound or its derivative. USE - The method is useful for preparing 1,5-hexadiene. ADVANTAGE - The method develops a new application of polyol catalytic conversion including glycerol through the carbon chain extension conversion strategy.
