▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - The device (100) has a graphene-based electro-optical device (120) configured in which light interacts with a graphene element such that variation of phase of an optical signal is produced without significant variation of amplitude or intensity of the optical signal. An optical interface (140) allows phase variation produced in the optical signal to be analyzed or monitored. An electronic interface (130) allows the graphene element to be acted upon by modifying properties of the graphene element in order to modify phase of the optical signal without affecting intensity of the optical signal. USE - Device for modulating phase of an optical signal based on graphene and/or carbon-based nanostructured materials for short and long distance optical fiber communications to provide broadband services to subscribers. ADVANTAGE - The device allows robust transmission of information without having distortions in modulation of amplitude or intensity of light so as to offer modulators of great bandwidth. The device is designed such that real parts of an effective refractive index of moderate variations of voltage are sufficient to secure suitable modulation of phase of the optical signal. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a system for modulating phase of an optical signal based on graphene and/or carbon-based nanostructured materials.
