NOVELTY - Preparation of modified magnesium hydroxide involves chemically grafting magnesium hydroxide and carbon-based nanofiller and modifying by silane coupling agent under nitrogen protection to obtain surface-grafted magnesium hydroxide, end-capping and coating the surface-grafted magnesium hydroxide with hydrophobic silicone rubber in protective atmosphere. USE - Preparation of modified magnesium hydroxide for preparing nylon material (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The prepared modified magnesium hydroxide has excellent thermal conductivity, flame retardance, and compatibility with polymer matrix, and solves the problems of the hydrophilicity of existing magnesium hydroxide and agglomeration of graphene. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for application method of the modified magnesium hydroxide for preparation of nylon material, which involves adding mixture of 62-79 pts. wt. modified magnesium hydroxide, 25-44 pts. wt. nylon and 0.3-0.6 pt. wt. antioxidant 1010 (pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-(3',5'-di-tert-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)propionate)) to torque rheometer, heating under rotation speed of 45-85 rpm to 160-200 degrees C for 10-20 minutes, and hot-pressing at 160-200 degrees C under pressure of 8-12 MPa for 1-5 minutes.
