NOVELTY - A modified graphene material (I) is obtained by oxidizing graphene and modifying with silver. USE - Modified graphene material is used for composite for composite optical film (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The modified graphene material has excellent solubility with respect to solvent. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A modified graphene material (I) is obtained by oxidizing graphene and modifying with silver. A=single bond, -NHC(=O)-, -O-, -S-, -NH- or -OC(=O); L=1-20C alkylene, 3-20C cycloalkenylene, 6-40C arylene or 7-15C aralkylene (all optionally substituted); R1=H, linear or branched alkyl, halo, -OH, - NH2 , -SH, 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C linear or branched alkenyl, 2-20C linear or branched alkynyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl, 6-40C aryl or heteroaryl optionally having hetero atom chosen from oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, boron or functional group containing heteroatom which is chosen from -OR3, -OC(O)OR3, -C(O)OR3, -C(O)R3, -OC(O)R3, -R2C(O)R3, -R2OC(O)R3, -R2C(O)OR3, -(R2O)p-OR3, -(OR2)p-OR3, -SR3, -R2SR3, -S(=O)R3, -R2S(O)R3, -R2C(=S)R3, -R2N=C=S, -N=C=S, -NCO, -CN, -R2CN, -NO2, -R2NO2 or group of formula (a)-(v) (all optionally substituted); R2=1-20C alkylene, 3-20C cycloalkenylene, 6-40C arylene or 7-15C aralkylene (all optionally substituted); p=1-5;and R3-R5=H, halo, or linear or branched 1-20C alkyl, linear or branched 2-20C alkenyl, linear or branched 2-20C alkynyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl, 6-40C aryl or 1-20C alkoxy (all optionally substituted). INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) composite, which is obtained by dispersing modified graphene material in polymeric material; and (2) composite optical film.
