NOVELTY - Slot electrode stack (100) comprises an electrically insulative separator (110) folded into an accordion shape and having first slots on one side and second slots on an opposite side; cathodes (120) located in the first slots; and anodes (130) located in the second slots. USE - The slot electrode stack is used in a slot electrode cell and a slot electrode battery, where the battery is configured for use in a vehicle, ship, or grid-storage (all claimed), and in small electronics. ADVANTAGE - The slot electrode stacks have slotted structure created by an accordion-shaped separator facilitate stacking and alignment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: a slot electrode cell comprising the slot electrode stack, an electrolyte, and a casing; a slot electrode battery, comprising the slot electrode cell, a positive connector, a negative connector, and a housing; and a method for forming the slot electrode stack, involving inserting cathodes into first slots on one side of an electrically insulative separator folded into an accordion shape, and inserting anodes into second slots on an opposite side of the separator.
