NOVELTY - A composition for removal of waste from wastewater or waste stream comprises composite containing graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles at a weight ratio of 10:1-1:10. USE - A composition for removal of waste from wastewater or waste stream (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene oxide/magnesium oxide (GO/MgO) nanocomposite (NC) is a successful composition to render the GO to be easily settled in aqueous solutions and for the successful removal of organic dyes, such as methylene blue. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) removal of organic molecules from wastewater or waste stream in need of removal which involves contacting wastewater or waste stream with a composite of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles for an amount of time sufficient for the organic molecules to attach to the nanoparticles and separating the nanoparticles from the water; and (2) preparation of composite of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles which involves resuspending graphene oxide in water, mixing the graphene oxide in water with magnesium oxide nanoparticles, sonicating the mixture of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles, and removing the water from the mixture of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles.
