NOVELTY - Covalent bond coupling method of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM)- reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite material comprises slowly adding graphite powder and sodium nitrate to concentrated sulfuric acid in an ice-water bath to obtain a mixed solution A, slowly adding potassium permanganate to mixed solution A, stirring, water bath heating for 2 hours, adding deionized water, stirring uniformly, raising the temperature to a certain temperature, adding the deionized water and strong oxidant into the mixed solution B, dispersing the reduced graphene oxide in the alcohol solvent, flash oxidation to obtain oxygen enriched state of reduced graphene oxide, dissolving EPDM solid in a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, adding a surfactant, continuing stirring, drying to obtain EPDM powder, carrying out the oxygen atom stripping to EPDM powder by hydrochloric acid and compounding the oxygen deficient EPDM and oxygen-rich reduced graphene oxide by solvothermal method. USE - The material is useful in preparing aviation seat rubber (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: has simple technique; is economical and suitable for industrial batch production. The material has shape rule, uniform and characteristics, which can obviously improve the property of the EPDM rubber property, heat resistance and oil resistance when it is used as the sealing ring of the aviation cushion. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Covalent bond coupling method of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM)- reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite material comprises (a) slowly adding graphite powder and sodium nitrate to concentrated sulfuric acid in an ice-water bath to obtain a mixed solution A, slowly adding potassium permanganate to mixed solution A, stirring, water bath heating for 2 hours, adding deionized water, stirring uniformly, raising the temperature to a certain temperature, heat preservation at 30℃, reducing the temperature to obtain the mixed solution B, adding the deionized water and strong oxidant into the mixed solution B until there is no bubble generated, centrifuging, cleaning, drying to obtain dark yellow reduced graphene oxide, dispersing the reduced graphene oxide in the alcohol solvent, flash oxidation to obtain oxygen enriched state of reduced graphene oxide, (b) dissolving EPDM solid in a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, adding a surfactant, continuing stirring, drying to obtain EPDM powder, carrying out the oxygen atom stripping to EPDM powder by hydrochloric acid, obtaining oxygen deficient EPDM material and (c) compounding the oxygen deficient EPDM and oxygen-rich reduced graphene oxide by solvothermal method. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a EPDM-rGO composite material, prepared by above method.
