NOVELTY - A negative electrode material (100) comprises inorganic particles (10) containing silicon, and capable of intercalating and deintercalating lithium ions, a first layer (20) containing carbon, covering all or a portion of the inorganic particles (10),and a second layer (30) containing silicon oxycarbide, covering all or a portion of the first layer (20). USE - Negative electrode material used for lithium-ion secondary battery (all claimed). Uses include but are not limited to mobile phones, personal computers, personal information terminal, standby power supply source, and drive power source of vehicles. ADVANTAGE - The negative electrode material provides lithium-ion secondary battery having excellent charging and discharging cycle characteristics, and high capacity.
