NOVELTY - Cathode active material comprises antimony particles, and a graphene coating layer located on the surface of the antimony particle and including 1-20 graphene layers. USE - The material is useful in cathode for secondary battery including lithium secondary battery and sodium secondary battery (all claimed).. ADVANTAGE - The material alleviates volume expansion of the battery during charging and discharging by graphene coating layer, and improves lifetime characteristics and stability of battery. The method is simple and economical. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) producing cathode active material, comprising (a) ball milling mixture of antimony oxide particles and graphite carbon particles, and (b) ball milling mixture of the primary ball milled material and the metal particles, where the step (a) is carried out by pulverizing antimony oxide particles, mechanically peeling the layered structure of the graphite-based carbon particles to form 1-20 grains of layers, and coating grains of layers on surface of the pulverized antimony oxide particles, and the step (b) is carried out by reducing the milled antimony oxide particles while oxidizing the metal particles; and (2) secondary battery comprising an anode (3), a cathode (2) and electrolyte, where the cathode is made of the cathode active material.
