NOVELTY - Magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite flame retardant comprises magnesium hydroxide-coated graphene sheet having hexagonal sheet structure, and hexagonal sheet-like magnesium hydroxide having size of 100-800 nanometer. USE - Magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite flame retardant. ADVANTAGE - The magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite flame retardant has easy preparation, high thermal stability and flame retardancy, has controlled morphology, purity and particle size of magnesium hydroxide. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite flame retardant, which involves: (A) mixing graphene sheets, dispersant and deionized water, and transferring to grinding equipment for grinding to obtain graphene sheet dispersion, where mass ratio of the graphene flakes to dispersant is 1:(0.5-10), and mass ratio of graphene flakes to deionized water is (0.001-0.05):(1-20); (B) adding light burnt magnesium powder to grinding equipment containing graphene sheet dispersion, and grinding to obtain magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite slurry, where mass ratio of light burnt magnesium powder to graphene flakes is 1:(0.001-0.01); (C) adding modifier to grinding equipment containing magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite slurry, and then grinding to obtain modified composite slurry, where mass ratio of the modifier to total mass ratio of the graphene flakes and light burnt magnesium powder is (0.02-0.05):1; and (D) reacting modified composite slurry at 60-100 degrees C for 4-48 hours, subjecting the obtained product to solid-liquid separation, and finally drying solid material to obtain magnesium hydroxide/graphene sheet composite flame retardant.
