NOVELTY - Formation of carbon/sulfur composite involves placing carbon/sulfur mixture into reactor vessel, placing the reactor vessel in a microwave oven, subjecting the carbon/sulfur mixture to a microwave heat source, raising the temperature of the carbon/sulfur mixture to above the melting point of sulfur, and lowering the temperature of the carbon/sulfur mixture to less than the melting point of sulfur to form carbon/sulfur composite comprising sulfur condensed onto the carbon. USE - Formation of composite used in carbon electrode of lithium sulfur battery (claimed), electrochemical cells, secondary lithium battery, and electrochemical capacitor used in electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
