NOVELTY - High-strength microgel granular material comprises pre-polymerized liquid comprising 22-40 %mass hydrophilic monomer, 0.4-0.6 %mass initiator, 0.03-0.06 %mass crosslinking agent, 1.5-8.5 %mass reinforcing filler and 55-75 %mass water, where the hydrophilic monomer comprises acrylamide and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, the initiator is ammonium persulfate, the crosslinking agent is methylenebisacrylamide, and the reinforcing filler comprises nano clay, nano attapulgite or graphene oxide. The preparation method of the high-strength microgel granular material comprises (S1) placing the pre-polymerized liquid in an open-cover electric heating reactor to carry out a polymerization reaction at 75-85℃ to obtain a polymer hydrogel and (S2) drying the polymer hydrogel at 90-115℃ until the water content of the polymer is ≤ 5% and grinding the dried hydrogel to pass through a 70-100 mesh sieve using an industrial grinder to obtain the product. USE - The high-strength microgel granular material is used for rapid plugging of water leakage in engineering facilities, preferably water conservancy projects such as reservoirs and river dams. ADVANTAGE - The high-strength microgel granular material requires easily obtainable raw materials, ensures low production cost, requires simple preparation process, has excellent mechanical properties, realizes the perfect combination of high strength and fast water solidification and plugging, has high mechanical strength, and completes the water-solid sealing within 20 seconds. The compressive strength reaches 40 MPa under the condition of 80% strain.
