NOVELTY - The sea urchin-shaped silicon-carbon composite material has silicon nanomaterials and a hybrid carbon cage wrapping the silicon nanomaterials. The hybrid carbon cage includes an organic carbon cage and conductive nanomaterials doped on the organic carbon cage. The mass content of silicon nanomaterials in the sea urchin-shaped silicon-carbon composite material is 5-99%. USE - Sea urchin-shaped silicon-carbon composite material used as negative electrode active material in lithium ion batteries (claimed) . ADVANTAGE - The sea urchin-shaped silicon carbon composite material promotes the electronic transmission, and improves the fast charging and discharging performance of the lithium-ion battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a preparation method of the sea urchin-shaped silicon-carbon composite material, which involves mixing the silicon nanomaterial, the hybrid carbon cage material and the solvent to obtain a dispersion, spray-drying the dispersion to obtain a silicon carbon precursor, and annealing silicon-carbon precursor; and (2) an application of the sea urchin-shaped silicon-carbon composite material used as negative electrode active material in lithium ion batteries.
