NOVELTY - The catalyst has a carbon-based carrier and a metal nanoparticle loaded on the carbon-based carrier. The metal nanoparticle is present in the form of intermetallic compound formed by noble metal and base metal. Based on the total mass of the catalyst, the content of the metal nanoparticle is 10-50 wt.%, and the content of the carbon-based carrier is 50-90 wt.%. USE - The catalyst is useful in a membrane electrode and a direct liquid fuel cell. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst not only has high catalytic activity in the liquid fuel catalytic process, but also has strong anti-poisoning ability, stable catalytic performance and long service life. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a preparation method of catalyst comprising dispersing carrier in inorganic acid contained in the organic solvent-treatment to obtain the pre-treated carrier dispersion liquid, mixing with noble metal precursor and base metal precursor, loading the noble metal precursor and base metal precursor on the pre-treatment carrier, then separating, and drying the electro-catalyst precursor, and roasting the precursor in inert atmosphere; (2) a membrane electrode of a direct fuel liquid comprising a proton exchange membrane, a catalyst attached to the proton exchange membrane surface and a gas diffusion layer on the outer layer of the catalyst, where adhesion amount of the catalyst on the proton exchange membrane is 1-10 mg/cm2 ; and (3) a direct liquid fuel cell comprising the membrane electrode and an organic liquid hydrogen storage liquid. The organic liquid hydrogen storage liquid is methylcyclohexane, cyclohexane, tetrahydronaphthalene, decalin, perhydronitroethylcarbazole, perhydrocarbazole, piperidine, 2-methyl piperidine, 3-methylpiperidine, 4-methylpiperidine, 2,6-dimethylpiperidine, 2,5-dimethylpiperidine, 1-methylpyrrolidine, 2-methylpyrrolidine, 3-methylpyrrolidine, 1-aminopyrrolidine, piperazine and /or perhydroimidazole.
