NOVELTY - Liquid metal aerogel has a continuous three-dimensional porous network structure, and consisting of liquid metal nano particles and graphene sheets overlapping each other. The portion of the liquid metal nano particles are surrounded by graphene nano sheets. USE - Liquid metal aerogel used in fields of thermal insulation, catalysis, batteries, super capacitors, adsorption, sensing, or light-hot water evaporation (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The liquid metal aerogel has high specific surface area, low density, high thermal conductivity, hydrophilicity and chemical stability, simple preparation process, mild and controllable reaction conditions, and wide application prospects. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing a liquid metal aerogel, which involves: (A) dispersing the liquid metal in an aqueous solution of polysaccharide to form liquid metal nanoparticles, and making the liquid metal nanoparticles coated with polysaccharide to obtain a stable dispersion liquid; (B) mixing obtained liquid metal nanoparticle dispersion uniformly with graphene oxide, and then sequentially adding metal hydroxide colloid and gluconolactone for ionic crosslinking and allowed to stand to obtain liquid metal gum; (C) reducing the graphene oxide in the liquid metal hydrogel with a reducing agent; and (D) subjecting obtained liquid metal hydrogel to solvent replacement and drying treatment to obtain a liquid metal aerogel.
