NOVELTY - Making graphene, comprises: providing a seed gas in the presence of a metallic substrate; providing a pulsed, ultraviolet laser beam; and moving the substrate or the laser beam relative to the other, thus advancing a graphene crystallization front and forming an ordered graphene structure. USE - The method is useful manufacturing graphene (claimed), which is useful as an impenetrable gas barrier for hermetically sealing on the substrate or implant material for tissue regeneration and/or repair. ADVANTAGE - The method: provides graphene with high Young's modulus of 0.5-1 TPa, extremely flexible and not brittle; provides graphene that can be transferred onto any flat or irregular shaped surface and graphene coated, and has flexible supporting substrates can be easily bent into any shape required; and is cost-effective. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for recrystallizing graphene, comprising (a) providing a pulsed, ultraviolet laser beam to a polycrystalline graphene sheet and (b) moving the substrate or the laser beam relative to the other, on causing the graphene to become more crystalline.
