NOVELTY - Preparation of high-performance flooding-resistant membrane electrode involves (1) preparing cathode and anode catalyst slurry, (2) coating the cathode and anode catalyst slurry on both sides of proton exchange membrane to form cathode and anode catalyst layers, (3) preparing cathode and anode hydrophobic membrane slurry, (4) coating and drying the cathode and anode hydrophobic membrane slurries on the cathode and anode catalyst layers of catalyst coated membrane to prepare conductive cathode and anode hydrophobic membrane layers, or coating the cathode and anode hydrophobic membrane slurry on other substrates and drying, transferring to the cathode and anode catalyst layers to form catalyst coated membrane with conductive hydrophobic membrane layers, and (5) assembling a frame and a gas diffusion layer on both sides of the catalyst coated membrane with conductive cathode and anode hydrophobic membrane layers. USE - Preparation of high-performance flooding-resistant membrane electrode (claimed) used in proton exchange membrane fuel cell for vehicle. ADVANTAGE - The method uses conductive hydrophobic membrane layer between the catalytic layer and the gas diffusion layer to prevent the membrane electrode from being flooded, ensure gas transmission, and balance the water content in the catalytic layer. In the method, there is no need to add additional substances to the catalytic layer, and the electrical resistance and gas transmission resistance of the catalytic layer will not increase.
