NOVELTY - Low-platinum catalyst comprises carbon carrier with surface doped with nitrogen and platinum nanoparticles which are reduced on the surface of the carbon carrier in situ, where the grain diameter of the platinum nanoparticles is 1-3 nm, the load amount of the platinum in the catalyst is 1-14 wt.%, and the doping amount of the nitrogen in the carbon carrier is 0.1-1 ton. USE - The low-platinum catalyst is useful in catalysis of the hydrogen evolutionreaction of the electrolytic water in the alkalineenvironment.. ADVANTAGE - The low platinum catalyst has high electrochemical active area, which can effectively reduce the use amount of noble metal, improves the utilization efficiency of noble metal, exhibiting excellent quality activity in the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction, under the same metal loading and electrochemical test conditions, it is obviously better than the commercial platinum carbon.
