NOVELTY - Composite material comprises cobalt compound with hollow structure filled with selenium. USE - The composite material is useful for lithium selenium battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material: provides synergistic effect, physical confinement, chemical adsorption, and catalytic effect suppresses the shuttle effect of polyselenide by regulating the structure (hollow structure) of the metal compound with chemical adsorption and catalysis ability; improves the utilization rate of active substances; and preparation method is simple and more suitable for the promotion and application of industrialization and utilizes mild conditions and strong controllability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: Preparing composite material, comprising (i) heating and refluxing the ZIF-67 dispersion and the source solution of another element in the cobalt compound under a protective atmosphere to obtain a reaction system; (ii) calcining the reaction system under a certain atmosphere to obtain a cobalt compound with a hollow structure; and (iii) mixing the cobalt compound and selenium solution with a hollow structure, drying, and heating under vacuum conditions; and Lithium selenium battery comprises cathode material comprising composite material, prepared as mentioned above.
