NOVELTY - Preparing furoic acid comprises contacting aqueous solution of furfural with catalyst under air and/or oxygen conditions and carrying out catalytic oxidation reaction. The preparation of catalyst comprises mixing carrier, basic nitrogen-containing compound and precursor of the active component in solvent, heating and refluxing and stirring under water bath conditions, drying and calcining the mixture and the active component precursor is at least one of rhodium chloride, palladium chloride, chloroplatinic acid and ruthenium chloride and carrier is at least one of activated carbon, graphite, fullerene and graphene oxide. USE - The method is useful for preparing furoic acid. ADVANTAGE - The method: has high activity and high product yield; is environmentally friendly; and has easy to separate.
