NOVELTY - Oxygen reduction catalyst comprises platinum nanoparticles supported on DNA-graphene complex. USE - The oxygen reduction catalyst as a composite is useful for fuel cells, super capacitor, biosensors, nanoscale electronics, drug delivery system and cancer contrast agent (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method can uniformly disperse metal nanoparticles on graphene-based compound. The synthetic platinum nanoparticles/gDNA-graphene oxide complex exhibits excellent effect as oxygen reduction catalyst, preferably excellent electrochemical properties (specific activity and mass activity) with respect to oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) onset potential, ORR half-wave potential and ORR, and excellent durability, long-term stability, environmental stability, good corrosion resistance and high conductivity, and increases oxidation-reduction reaction rate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) composite having metal nanoparticles supported on DNA-graphene complex; (2) a composite having DNA bound to graphene oxide; and (3) manufacturing metal-DNA-graphene complex by producing DNA-graphene oxide complex, and performing reduction by reacting the DNA-graphene oxide complex with metal precursor compounds.
