NOVELTY - A solid graphene foam comprises multiple pores and pore walls containing pristine graphene material (m1) which does not contain non-carbon elements, or non-pristine graphene material (m2) containing 0.001-5 wt.% non-carbon elements. Material (m2) is chosen from graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, graphene fluoride, graphene chloride, graphene bromide, graphene iodide, hydrogenated graphene, nitrogenated graphene, and chemically functionalized graphene. The solid graphene foam has density of 0.01-1.7 g/cm3, and specific surface area of 50-3000 m2/g. USE - Solid graphene foam (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The mechanically robust solid graphene foam has excellent conductivity, thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and stiffness, and is prepared by economical method using environmentally-friendly chemical, by controlling porosity level and pore sizes. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A solid graphene foam comprises multiple pores and pore walls containing pristine graphene material (m1) which does not contain non-carbon elements, or non-pristine graphene material (m2) containing 0.001-5 wt.% non-carbon elements. Material (m2) is chosen from graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, graphene fluoride, graphene chloride, graphene bromide, graphene iodide, hydrogenated graphene, nitrogenated graphene, and chemically functionalized graphene. The solid graphene foam has density of 0.01-1.7 g/cm3, specific surface area of 50-3000 m2/g, thermal conductivity of 200 W/m.K or more per unit of specific gravity, and/or electroconductivity of 2000 S/cm or more per unit of specific gravity. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of solid graphene foam, which involves preparing graphene dispersion having multiple sheets of starting graphene material chosen from material (m1) or (m2) dispersed in a liquid medium, obtaining dispersion containing optional blowing agent, such that the weight ratio of blowing agent and graphene material is 0/1-1/1, dispensing and depositing the graphene dispersion on surface of supporting substrate by subjecting graphene dispersion to orientation-inducing stress, forming wet layer of graphene material, partially or completely removing liquid medium from the wet layer of graphene material, forming dried layer of graphene material, and heat-treating dried layer of graphene material at 80-3200 degrees C at desired heating rate to induce volatile gas molecules from non-carbon elements or to activate blowing agent for producing sheet of solid graphene foam.
